How to download your TikTok data
A complete walkthrough for requesting your TikTok data export — every favorited video, every like, every repost. Once you have the file, UnplugMe turns it into a real local archive on your hard drive.
What you'll get
TikTok's official "Download your data" feature gives you a single JSON file (or ZIP with a JSON inside) containing your account activity. Inside, you'll find:
- Every video you've favorited (your saved videos)
- Every video you've liked
- Every video you've reposted
- Your watch history, share history, and search history
- Videos you've posted yourself (with direct download URLs for those)
- Your followers, following, and blocked lists
- Your messages, comments, and profile info
Important: TikTok's export gives you direct download links only for your own posts. Videos you've favorited or liked are referenced as URLs only — UnplugMe handles the rest.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Open the TikTok app
Launch the TikTok mobile app and make sure you're signed in to the account whose data you want to archive. The mobile app's export flow is faster and more reliable than the web version.

- Choose the file format TikTok offers two formats: (machine-readable, recommended) and (plain text, not useful for tools). Pick JSON — UnplugMe requires it.
- Choose the data scope Choose for the most complete archive. If you want only specific categories, choose and check at minimum: Likes and Favorites, Profile and Settings, Post, Your Activity.
-
Tap "Request data"
Confirm the request. TikTok will queue your export and process it in the background.
Heads up: TikTok's queue can take longer than Instagram's — anywhere from a few hours to 4 days depending on your account size. You won't get an email; you'll get an in-app notification, and the file will appear under the "Download data" tab when it's ready.
- Come back when notified TikTok will notify you in-app when your data is ready. You can also check by returning to — when ready, the file will be listed there with a download button.
-
Download the file
Tap the download icon. The file is active for 4 days — download it before it expires. If you missed the window, just request again.

Transfer the file to your computer
Since the file downloads to your phone, you'll need to move it to your computer to use with UnplugMe. Easiest options: AirDrop (iOS to Mac), email it to yourself, or upload to your cloud drive and download on desktop.
Tip: On iOS, the file lands in the Files app. Long-press it and tap Share → AirDrop or Save to Files → iCloud Drive.
- Open the file with UnplugMe Drop the file (or its ZIP) into the UnplugMe extension. We auto-detect TikTok exports and parse everything in your browser — no upload, no waiting.
Other platforms
Got data on more than one platform? We're working on all of them.
Privacy note
Your TikTok export is processed entirely in your browser, on your own device. The file never leaves your computer. UnplugMe never uploads, stores, or sees the contents of your archive.
