No. Your data export is parsed entirely in your browser. Media files transfer directly from the platform's servers to your computer. We never see, store, transmit, or process your personal content on our servers.
UnplugMe is a personal data portability tool. Each platform — Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter — offers a "Download Your Information" feature that returns a ZIP of metadata and links. UnplugMe helps you turn that export into an actual local archive of your own saved, liked, and favorited content. You initiate the data export from the platform. You authenticate in your own browser. You authorize each download. UnplugMe only ever processes content you already have personal access to, on your own device. We do not store user content, sell data, or access anything outside your authenticated session.

Each tutorial covers the exact menu paths, required settings, and what to expect. Once you have the file, drop it into UnplugMe.
UnplugMe is designed to mirror normal personal usage patterns — requests are rate-limited with randomized delays well below thresholds that platforms typically associate with automation. You authenticate with your own credentials in your own browser, and only content you already have access to is retrieved. We can't make guarantees about any platform's enforcement decisions, but the tool is intentionally architected to behave like a careful, manual user.
Photos download as JPG files at the highest available resolution. Videos, Reels, and TikTok shorts download as MP4 files. Carousel posts capture every slide. Everything is organized into folders matching the structure of your saves, favorites, and collections.
We do our best, but actual results vary. Some content may be unavailable due to expired media links, posts that have been deleted by their original creators, private accounts that have since restricted access, or platform rate-limiting. The vast majority of your saved and liked content will be recoverable, but a small percentage may be missed due to factors outside our control.
10% of every order is committed to organizations supporting digital wellbeing — research, education, and harm-prevention work around technology overuse and youth mental health. We are currently in the process of selecting our charity partner and will announce them publicly before our first transparency report. If you have a suggestion for an organization we should consider, we'd love to hear it.
